Japanese fishing boats fly a tairyobata when they come back loaded. Sea bream, crab, spiny lobster, salmon, rising suns, and the character for "great catch" repeating across the whole thing like a shout. It's a flag you only get to raise on a good day.

Now it's in your pocket.

The front is traditional kimono cotton — the real print, not a knockoff reproduction. The back is our premium microfiber suede, which means this hank actually earns its keep: lenses, screens, watch crystals, sunglasses, knife blades, whatever you carry that you don't want scratched.

Set into the corner is a grommet strung with sky blue paracord and a red stone bead. Pull it out of a pocket with one finger. Clip it to a bag, a belt loop, a zipper pull, a carabiner. Hang it off a bar or a bedpost. It's a small thing that changes how you carry it.

Equal parts street, utility, and collector piece.

WHY THIS SIZE

The print dictates the cut. The tairyobata panels repeat at a set interval, and cropping them smaller would slice the characters in half. So this hank is 7.5 by 8. It folds down to nothing, disappears into a back pocket or a bag's admin panel, and opens wide enough to do real work on a lens or a screen.

Like every Hank Cartel release, this is a one-time run. No repeats, no second printing, no "back in stock" email. When the bolt is gone, the hank is gone.

Handmade in our Washington State shop with the best materials we can get our hands on. Built to be carried, used, and shown off — not to sit in a drawer.

Because these are cut from a continuous print, no two hanks land on the exact same panels. Each stone bead is its own, too. Yours will be unlike anyone else's.

CARE

Machine wash cold, gentle. Hang dry. No fabric softener — it coats the microfiber and kills the grip. No bleach, no dryer, no iron on the suede side. The paracord and bead can go through the wash with it.
